ABOUT AMVETS

Mission: To enhance and safeguard the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and services.AMVETS (American Veterans) is the nation’s most inclusive Congressionally-chartered veterans service organization, representing the interests of 20 million veterans. AMVETS is open to and fighting for all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and Guard. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, we are veterans serving veterans.Founded in 1944 and chartered by an act of Congress, the AMVETS organization has more than 250,000 members nationwide. AMVETS exists to enhance the quality of life for all veterans, their families and survivors. Membership in AMVETS is open to anyone who honorably served or is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves.AMVETS has made a long-term economic impact by providing assistance, jobs, and services to veterans and their communities for more nearly 80 years.The Jerry Reed Music City AmVets Post 1776 was chartered in August of 2008. EVENTS

Jerry Reed Music City AmVets Post 1776 meets the 3rd Monday of every month at 18:00 hours (6pm) at the UAW Local 737: 6207 Centennial Blvd, Nashville, TN, 37209.Along with our monthly meeting, we host social opportunities and fundraisers throughout the year to support our members and local veterans.Current Post Commander:

Programs

Health and Wellness Program: Designed to help veterans in crisis with a one-time monetary gift from the Post.

Annual Food Assistance Drive: fundraiser to provide food assistance to veterans living under the poverty line. In the past, this was a non-perishable food drive but in the most recent years it has been gift cards for grocery stores.

Pocket Constitution Program: Presents local 8th grade students with a pocket-sized copy of the US Constitution.

JROTC/ROTC Program: an AmVets national program that presents annual Outstanding Senior Cadet and Outstanding Junior Cadet awards to local JROTC/ROTC students.

Americanism Project: an AmVets national patriotic initiative designed for K-12 students to promote American heritage, civics, and citizenship.
